Deleting an Alguni account
An Alguni account can be deleted from inside the app, on the web, on an iPhone or on an Android phone — and by email if the app is already gone. Deleting removes everything stored about the learner. It cannot be undone.

Deleting it from inside the app
Open Settings — the cog on the profile screen — and choose Delete account. It asks twice, because the button next to it only resets progress and the two must never be confused.
The path is the same on the website, in the iPhone app and in the Android app, and it deletes the same account: there is one account behind all three.
What is removed
Everything keyed to the account, and then the account itself: the nickname and password, the grown-up email address given at sign-up, and all progress — finished lessons, XP, streak, badges, hearts and gems.
Also the lesson results kept to find badly written lessons, both halves of every friendship, any invite links made, any promotion codes redeemed or attempted, the password-reset record, the subscription record that says which plan was bought and when it ends, the date the fortnight’s trial started, and the record of any plan bought for good.
Nothing is kept back, and nothing is archived somewhere else. There is no restore afterwards, so anything a family wants to remember — a streak, a trophy — is worth a screenshot first.
If a subscription is still running
Cancel it first. The app refuses to delete an account that a shop is still charging, and says so. Deleting would not stop the money; it would only remove the record of where the money goes, and nobody would find out until a bank statement.
Where to cancel depends on where it was bought. Bought on the website: the Manage or cancel button on the family screen opens Stripe’s own page. Bought in the iPhone app: the phone’s Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Bought in the Android app: Google Play → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
A promotion code does not stand in the way, and neither does the fortnight’s trial or a plan bought for good. None of them is charging anybody again, so an account holding one can be deleted straight away. A plan bought for good is deleted with the account: it cannot be moved to a new one, deleting it is not a refund, and a family it covered stops being covered.
Deleting it without the app
If the app has already been removed, write to hello@alguni.com from the grown-up email address on the account, saying the nickname to delete. That address is the only thing that can show the request comes from the family it belongs to, which is why it has to be the one the account was made with.
The same address can be used to ask what is stored about a child, or to have it corrected. A request to delete is acted on and then confirmed by reply.
What else is worth knowing
Deletion happens in one step on the server, so an account is never left half-removed — the whole of it goes, or none of it does and the app says something went wrong.
The account is what signs a learner in, so deleting it signs them out everywhere and the nickname stops working. A new account can be made afterwards; it starts from nothing, because there is nothing left to bring back.
